About the Course

The level 3 award in assessing competence in the work environment qualification is for learners aged 19 and above. This qualification is intended for assessors who assess occupational competence in an individual’s work environment.

Course Structure

The aim of this course is to assess the candidate assessor’s performance in assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in work environments. The level 3 award in assessing competence in the work environment is made up of two mandatory units which are:

Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment

Assessment 

Learners are expected to demonstrate knowledge of assessment. They will also be expected to carry out a minimum four assessments that examine the skills , knowledge and understanding of your two candidates. The assessments should include checking prior learning, observation of practice and work products, questioning and discussions. You are free to use any other appropriate additional assessment methods. Please note simulation is not allowed.

It is possible to combine both the theory and practical requirements of the course at the same time depending on your needs. They will in the mean time be supported by your assessor and be expected to participate on our eportfolio system for further learning and to meet guided learning hours. Once they are done with the theory and ready for the practical part of the course, they can then go ahead to prepare, plan and conduct assessments with your two candidates. Allocated assessor will support the learner during their assessor journey with their own two candidates.
