About this Qualification
The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a qualification aimed at individuals who work or intend to work within an internal quality assurance team. The qualification provides recognition for the learner’s knowledge and practical ability in internal quality assurance and assessment processes and is relevant to a variety of sectors. Learners who have achieved this qualification can progress to the Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. Learners can also progress to the external verifier qualifications, management courses and additional quality assurance qualifications.
Course Structure
The course has a total QCF credit value of 12. The level 4 award in the internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practice is made up of two mandatory units which are:
- Unit 1 Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
- Unit 2 Internally assure the quality of assessment
Assessment
Trainee IQA’s are expected to demonstrate knowledge of assessment. They will also be expected to carry out a minimum four assessments that examine the skills, knowledge and understanding of your two assessors. The assessments should include checking prior learning, observation of practice and work products, questioning and discussions. You are free to use any other appropriate additional assessment methods. Please note simulation is not allowed.
It is possible to combine both the theory and practical requirements of the course at the same time depending on your needs. We however usually give trainee assessors up to four weeks to complete the unit questions that come with unit one. They will be supported by their assessor and be expected to participate on our e-learning platform for further learning and to meet guided learning hours. Once they are done with the theory and ready for the practical part of the course, they can then go ahead to prepare, plan and conduct assessments with their two assessors. Their allocated assessor will support the trainee during their IQA journey with their own two assessors.
