Course Description

PMVA Training course is designed to train members of staff how to prevent and handle conflicts that may occur in their workplace. It familiarises them with common causes and signs of conflict, how the law relates to conflict management, how to carry out a conflict risk assessment, ways to prevent conflicts, and methods for handling confrontations and ongoing cases of conflict – including types of alternative conflict resolution.

Conflicts can happen in any workplace and in any industry, no matter how many employees are in the business. It can happen between individuals, between staff and a customer or patient, or between larger groups of employees. Damaged relationships can be difficult or impossible to repair and conflicts with customers or patients can damage a business’ reputation, harming the business. Therefore, conflict resolution and knowing the appropriate skills to utilise to diffuse a situation should one arise is key to good business.

The course will also offer a selection of activities which will help develop each candidate’s understanding of the value of being able to listen and communicate effectively to initially talk a situation down and prevent escalation of the situation.

Unit: Physical Interventions in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression

Assessment

These qualifications are available to anyone capable of reaching the required standards.

There are no formal requirements for entry to these qualifications.

This course is offered to the general public which is subject to sufficient required numbers and a decision will be taken 7 days prior to the course start date.

Entry Requirements:

Candidates must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.
